"I say 'No' easily and confidently"
In the middle of my birthing time with my first baby, there was a point when a gaggle of residents stormed into our birthing room and demanded that I get up on the bed immediately so they could check me. The details are unimportant. Suffice to say - I knew why they were doing it and I knew it was totally unnecessary. I was sitting on a birthing ball, with my head and arms resting comfortably on the side of the bed, deep in center switch and feeling wonderful. I didn't open up my eyes, I don't think I moved at all, I just said "NO", um, easily and confidently. They told me that they thought I had a prolapsed cord and that I had to get up on the bed and, without opening my eyes, I said "No. Talk to the nurse". They continued on at which point my husband and doula took over and I went back to relaxing. They never did check me. Nobody did. Except my doctor, which was what I wanted.
Anyway, it was probably one of my favorite parts of my whole birthing experience. Normally they would have totally riled me up. I would have instantly felt tension and anger well up inside my stomach and chest. It would have been tough to get over it after they left. But the Hypnobabies was amazing! I didn't even think about it or choose to use my tools or anything - it just happened. They said their thing and it bounced off my BOP and I simply said 'No'. No excitement or tension at all! I never even opened my eyes and looked at them. To this day, I have no idea what they looked like.
It wasn't until 3 years later, when I started doing Hypnobabies for the second time that I realized there was a direct suggestion in the affirmations about saying 'No' "easily and confidently" and for some reason, everyday when I listened to the affirmations, it kind of made me giggle and then reflect on how awesomely powerful these tools really are.
